Tasting NOTES

Sometimes when you love something, it’s fun to explore other versions of it. When you get to create that other expression by sourcing grapes from an esteemed, neighboring vineyard called Nun’s Canyon, love meets excitement. This exciting, member-exclusive Zin is like wood smoke curled around a baked red apple, cinnamon, and caramel cobbler with a lush, juicy palate, subtle hints of tannin, wisps of brown sugar, and a soft, silkiness that carries through from start to finish.

Vineyard NOTES

Gazing over the Sonoma Valley on the southwest-facing slopes of the Mayacamas mountains at an elevation of 1350-1700 feet, the Nun’s Canyon Vineyard provides picture-perfect Zinfandel for one of our wine club exclusives. About 15 miles north of our estate Rhinefarm vineyard and nestled in the Moon Mountain District AVA, the vines grow in steeply-sloped red volcanic soils, the mountain conditions and deep soil, fostering small yields of 2.5 tons per acre. They also enjoy the intense sunshine of a higher elevation site moderated by
cooling, daytime breezes from the coast as well as chilly nights. These elements combine to create a long growing season, allowing for even ripening and rich, concentrated layers of flavor and structure in the grapes.
