Tasting NOTES

The low yields of 44+ year-old vines result in very concentrated and complex flavors, though more focus does not mean more power. The beauty of the Heritage Selection Chardonnay lies in its subtlety and grace. Delicate aromas of white flowers with fresh lemon oil and wet flint minerality lure into a medium-bodied palate of lush, citrus-zest driven fruit carried by bright acidity and a long finish. Still youthful, discover layers by decanting or aging for 4-8 years from vintage.

Vineyard NOTES

Eight miles north of San Pablo Bay, the Bundschu family's 160 year-old vineyard wraps around the southwest slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains. The terrain below 150 feet elevation features gently sloping Huichica clay loam soils with gravel deposits and cooler growing conditions that deliver minerality and focused acidity. Wines grown in these blocks bear the Sonoma Coast designation to reflect their cool climate character. One distinct block of 45-year-old Heritage vines is harvested for this limited bottling.
