Tasting NOTES

Although most commonly used as a blending grape to add spice, color and structure to Bordeaux blends, we chose to showcase Petit Verdot and allow it to star in its own production. From the glass, this wine displays a deep, inky color and offers aromas of black fruits that are lifted by floral notes of lavender and lilac. Full-bodied, our Petit Verdot unfolds in layers of dense, dark boysenberry and cassis, which are complimented by supple tannins. This tall, dark and drinksome wine finishes with smooth supporting notes of black tea and sage, and it can be enjoyed now or aged flawlessly for the next 10-15 years.

Vineyard NOTES

Sourced primarily from the familys 164+year-old, Rhinefarm Estate Vineyard, located on the southwest slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains, just eight miles north of San Pablo Bay. The terrain above 150 ft elevation is dominated by Arrowhead Mountain and features steep, southwest-facing hillsides of shallow, rocky soils of volcanic ash and alluvial wash. Pervasive maritime breezes and long daylight exposure allow fruit to develop intense concentration while retaining vibrant structure.
