Tasting NOTES

Predominantly composed of Merlot, La Cuadrilla(meaning the crew in Spanish) is a masterpiece red blend and the 2023 La Cuadrilla is a harmonious red blend led by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, offering plush notes of mesquite, roasted Peruvian coffee, gardenia, dried rose and saline on the nose - a complex bouquet reflecting the collaborative spirit of our winemaking team. Medium bodied with flavors of rainier cherries, it this wine pairs beautifully with citrus-braised pork belly with coriander and lime, whole roasted snapper with harissa, Korean fried chicken or caramelized shallot pasta.

2023 marked our first harvest from our Regenerative Organic Certified® vineyards. It was an exceptional vintage across Sonoma, with a slow, cool growing season and plentiful rain. Tracking about a month behind our typical harvest, it was one of the coolest and latest vintages weve seen on Rhinefarm in recent history, with grapes coming into the winery as late as November. With roughly 150% of our average rainfall and cooler temperatures throughout spring and summer, our soils were deeply nourished and the canopies thrived. The grapes developed gradually, benefiting from extended ripening time during the slow season. This consistently cool climate yielded complex, balanced, and elegant wines that distinctly highlight our unique terroir.

Vineyard NOTES

Eight miles north of San Pablo Bay, the Bundschu familys 161 year-old vineyard wraps around the southwest slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains. The terrain features steep, southwest-facing hillsides of shallow, rocky soils of volcanic ash and alluvial wash. Pervasive maritime breezes and long daylight exposure allow fruit to develop intense concentration while retaining vibrant structure. A portion is sourced from warmer vineyard sites in Sonoma Valley to add lushness to the mid-palate.
